🐘 Elephant Wisdom Worth Sharing

For some reason Elephants are known as wise.

I’m not sure why.

I look at the photo you see above, and it takes me back to when I was a child of 5 or 6 years old. I remember the Dr. Suess book, “Horton, Hears a Who”. It was first published in 1954.

The quote from the book that stands out most is when Horton, says, "I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful, one hundred percent!" Horton was asked to do the difficult task of sitting on an egg until it hatched for Mazy the lazy bird.

Horton endured great hardships of seasonal weather and no freedom for almost a full year. In the end the egg hatched and out came an elephant bird.

The image you see above is one that I took while in the old town of Kavala Greece. Upon snapping that photo, the feeling I got from looking at this image and reading the words is “soulfulness”.

Although you can’t clearly see the Momma Elephant behind her little one, other than her trunk and leg, they are together. She is protecting her. Celebrating her.

This got me thinking about my life with MS and the words that someone with the initials EA wrote.

Live simply.

How can you live more simply while managing MS in your day to day life? I have found simplicity to be essential to living a better life with MS.

Dream big.

You might say, I can no longer do that. Why not? No one can take away your dreams! They are yours to hold. Allow yourself to dream.

Give love.

Giving. To me this is the most important part of feeling whole while navigating my life with MS. Giving love can be so simple. Saying hello to a stray cat. Smiling at a person on the street. Appreciating a phone call, care giver or friend.

Laugh lots.

Laughing is healing. Watching funny shows or movies can get you laughing. I like to make fun and laugh at myself, be goofy and playful when I’m at home. That’s when I feel the most at ease.

How about you?

Which one of these stands out most for you?
